New York Building Technology Group is an energy code consulting firm based in Miller Place, New York. We are certified HERS (Home Energy Rating System) raters specializing in residential and light commercial energy code compliance. We provide true independent third party inspection services for Builders, Architects, and Home Owners.
We provide guidance on both state and local energy code requirements from the design phase to the final building commissioning and Certificate of Occupancy (C of O).
What We Do
Energy Code Compliance:
Permitting documentation for state and local townships, including HVAC calculations (Manual J, S, D, and N), Rescheck, Comcheck, and HERS modeling & documentation.
Inspections:
Energy compliance testing: HERS Ratings, Code Compliance Inspections, Infiltration (Blower Door) Testing, HVAC (Duct Blaster) Testing and Code Compliance Inspections
Consulting:
With over 40+ years experience in the construction field, our lead HERS rater Tom Baccarella can work with your team to determine the best options for your build including equipment options, envelope insulation, photovoltaics, and more. We can guide you through the process, assist in value engineering, and help head off potential compliance issues before they happen.
AIA Continuing Education and Informational Sessions:
We conduct live and in-person continuing education courses offered throughout the year. Courses are in coordination with the local AIA chapters where local architects, builders, and engineers discuss options for energy compliance, best practices, and stay up-to-date on both local and state energy codes.
