Whole House Mechanical Ventilation
The NYS building code (R303.4) requires whole house mechanical ventilation in all new homes.
New homes are built to be very airtight to improve energy efficiency. Indoor air can become stale when windows and doors remain closed for long periods, so whole-house mechanical ventilation provides a controlled supply of fresh air to maintain healthy indoor air quality. Because this system operates independently of wind, drafts, or natural pressure changes, it helps preserve energy efficiency while keeping the home safe and comfortable.
