Solar & EV Ready

Both are currently required in Town of Southampton and Town of Brookhaven

The idea is to have an available roof surface free of obstructions where solar panels can be installed at a later date without any major modifications. You are not required to install panels or wiring, you just need to ensure that an adequate area is available.

Solar Ready

  • Homes over 1400 sq ft need ~600 sq ft of usable roof facing generally south.
  • Area must be free of vents, chimneys, or other obstructions.
  • Plans must show the solar-ready location.
  • Keep space away from permanent roof/site objects.
  • Include a capped roof sleeve (min 1¼″ inside diameter) near the solar area.
  • Post a certificate near the electrical panel or water heater showing solar-ready details.

Electric Vehicle Ready

  • Provide capacity for a 208/240V, 40-amp EV charger.
  • Outlet or conduit should be near the parking area.
  • Charger install should be possible later without opening walls.
  • No charger required now, just panel space and conduit path.
